Last night after church I felt this sharp pain in the back of my leg below my knee. It felt like a charlie horse, so I rubbed it for awhile. However after rubbing through a 30 minute sitcom it didn’t feel any better. I could feel a knot in one of the veins which began to worry me.

I jumped on the interweb to see what deep vein thrombosis felt like and sure enough, I had all the symptoms. This morning I went to the doctor bright and early with my lovely wife. The doc said that it really looked bad and I should get an ultra sound to confirm a clot.

At 2:15p we went to Radiology Associates and I was diagnosed with a “surface vein” clot. Which is dangerous in itself, but less dangerous than a deep vein clot. Those can go right to your lungs and kill you in seconds, but I digress.

They prescribed me some blood thinners to stop future clots and a “clot buster” shot to get rid of the one I have now. The shots are to be administered by my wifey in the shoulder 2x in the morning and 2x at night for 5 days. As for the pill, I have to take that for 6-9 months.

Why did I blog this? First because it’s interesting. Second, because I need prayer. I’m the kind of guy who hasn’t been to the doctor in 2.5 years. To be told that I have to take meds for an extended period of time makes me mad. God didn’t create my body to survive with meds and I don’t want to start now.

I want a total healing and no more clots. So keep me and my family in your prayers.
