"Recovery Road" by Andy Stanley
My sister attends Andy Stanley’s church in Atlanta, Ga. and she told me about a series that her pastor just finished. It is called “Recovery Road.” Its a series that revolves around the idea that change in our nation should start with the House of God…the Christians.
This is a REALLY good series and I wanted to share the link so that you can listen too. The first link...

Discovering Podcasts
I love listening to other pastors, who are gifted speakers, teach God’s Word. In the good old days, when someone liked a sermon and waned to share it with someone else they would buy the tape. The tape would get passed around to dozens of other people until the tape wore out. Then came CD’s. You could purchase a CD of a great sermon at a church’s resource desk, or the whole...

The vision of Steve Jobs
I heard the news that Steve Jobs passed away yesterday and I started to think. I thought about the impact that one human can have on the world. Chances are, the phone in your pocket, your computer at home, how you got the music you are listening to, and the movies that your children watch or will watch have all been affected by how Steve Jobs saw things. What does that say about vision and...

Doctrine by Mark Driscoll
Over the past few weeks I’ve been doing a personal study on the influence of “Calvinists” and “Reformers” in the modern day church. It led me to a guy named Mark Driscoll and his book Doctrine. I’d like to preface this by saying that I am not a Calvinist, but this book is one of the best I’ve ever read. He is very simple and straightforward in his...

The Greatest God
This week in our readings for our Sunday School Bible Class we read the story of Moses and Aaron standing before Pharaoh. In Exodus 7:10 these two men go before Pharaoh with the command of the Lord to let His people go. Pharaoh’s heart was hardened and refused God’s command and the challenge started. What is interesting about this challenge is found within a bad translation of the...
Heart Burn
I love the story of the Emmaus Road. Jesus died, rose from the grave and then appeared to a couple of average guys walking down the street. They were talking about Jesus and Jesus walks up. The Bible says “their eyes were prevented from recognizing Him” (John 24:16). I believe that they were kept from realizing it was Jesus for one reason, so that He could ask them the question he...

Love God And Love People
In Genesis 32, Jacob has an encounter with God that changes everything for him. This story is a great example of how important it is to have an encounter with God. Most people seek God when things get difficult and expect God to answer their prayer with some kind of miracle that deals with a temporal situation that they are in. When in fact, God loves to show up and deal with the real heart...
Believe Before You See
I am always amazed at what God shows me in familiar scriptures. I’ve read the story of Abraham numerous times but if you slow down, and let the Word sink into your spirit God speaks amazing things. For example, I paired up reading Genesis 15-23 with Romans 4 to see what Paul had to say about Abraham and it was so rich.
Romans 4:13-15 Message
That famous promise God gave Abraham—that...

My Thoughts On Rob Bell
I felt like writing a blog about Rob Bell because lately he has been taking some heat about a new book he has coming out called “Love Wins.” Everyone from Stuart Greaves to John Piper seems to be chiming in on the premiss of Rob’s book. What I can tell from reading the forward of the book and commentaries from advanced copies (it isn’t released yet) it seems like Bell is...

Being Loved And Being Liked
There is a distance between people knowing they are loved and knowing they are liked. It seems to me that there has always been a great desire for man to feel both loved and liked, but in Christian circles we are taught that we have to love. Its not a choice…we just love. We love our God and we love people. However, even though we are supposed to love people we don’t always like...
Leading From Your Title vs Leading From Your Heart
I am a pastor. I have been a pastor for the past 10 years at the same church, faithfully serving in whatever area needed me. Being a pastor consumes my entire life, in that I am never really off the clock. It is what I have wanted to do since I gave my heart to Jesus. I love it. The funny thing is, when I meet new people I make a special point to leave out the fact that I am a pastor. Unless...

Perspective
Having the right perspective is critical to a Christian seeing things the right way. If I stand behind a door it is easy for me to assume that there is nothing on the other side. It is only when I change my position and open the door that I can have a proper perspective and see what is really on the other side of the door.
The Christian walk is the exact same thing. In every situation, every...

Today’s church leaders are moving in two different directions that will become more solidified by 2010.
Among the first group are those who have set their hearts to live deeply connected to Jesus and who are committed to full obedience in a fasted lifestyle. They will prayerfully devour the Word of God and encounter the...

Healings At Jesus Culture
Today we went out to different malls in the Atlanta area with the purpose of seeing people healed.
During the testimony time we learned that a little 6 year old autistic boy recieved the ability to talk, a lady who used a walker for 15 years threw it down and ran, a young person in a wheel chair who was paralized stood up, and a deaf girl got her hearing and tossed away her hearing aid!
What!?...
